Tablet Disruption

Tablet Disruption for Pharmaceutical Quality Control

Disruption of tablets for QC monitoring of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) is a time consuming, laborious, and uncontrolled process. This is particularly onerous when the formulation is slow release. The ability of AFA™ to focus large amounts of power into a small sample size is therefore ideally suited to this closed vessel application. The Covaris systems may also be run at elevated temperatures (e.g., 37ºC).

A number of features and benefits are listed below:

Feature Benefit
Non-contact
  • No contamination and compliance issues
Controllable Mechanical Energy
  • Accelerates the breakdown of all tablet formulations
Isothermal
  • No degradation issues
  • Maintain temperature at set-point between 4 to 40ºC
Closed tube
  • Safe - no aerosol risk
  • No sample cross-talk
  • No clean-up, nor decontamination
Automated on E-200
  • High throughput batch work possible
